Book Bags and Cushy Chairs

Sorry for being absent for so long!  I have been busy.  I just finished the last of the student book bags.  The students will each have a book bag and a cushy (crate seat) chair that matches.  Lots of pics to upload from my classroom.

Busy! Planner Love!

Oh, I’ve been busy organizing the stash in my room.   I have put up one bulletin board and I’ve sorted tons (literally) of library books on Classroom Organizer.  Still lots of work to go but fortunately I have time too!

Another time consumer has been transferring my planner into a Happy Planner style.  I love my Happy Planners but I needed to be able to do my lesson plans online so... what to do?  Well, using the One Stop Teacher Shop cactus themed google slides templates, I’ve made my own.   I’m quite pleased with the results.  My only hiccup has been ... punching those crazy HP holes in my laminated covers and dividers.  Yikes!  DO NOT use your HP 11 hole punch for this!!!  I wound up using my Fiskers long arm punch.  Combined with a sharpie and scissors I was finally able to make it work.  I am happy!

At the windows

Not sure these pics do the windows justice but you can see the adorable cactus fabric I found at Hobby Lobby for the valance and the curtain.  Not sure if I will make another valance for the window  or what to do about covering the door itself.  Hmmm...

What a difference!

It only took 3 hours to make the transformation.  You saw what my room looked like when I left on Wednesday and....  here is the new and much improved version.  I’m really starting to like my new “home”.

What a MESS!

Well, the old room is empty but the new room will take quite a bit of love.   Three large garbage bags of trash and one large bag of recycling.  Guess I know what I will be doing tomorrow!   Me, oh my, am I ever sore!  It will be worth it and I’m sure.  So very thankful for my daughter and her help!

Welcome!

A new school year, a new blog.  I'm hoping to keep updated on the sights and sounds of my new classroom with a cactus theme.  I'll be posting pictures and linking you to all of the great cactus resources on TPT.

For now...  I have a very small classroom and I share it with another group on the weekends so everything "hands off" needs to be out of reach.  This does present some interesting challenges but I have some solutions in my brain so hopefully they will work in real life.

Last night was spent making curtains for the windows and and a cover for my cubbies.  Hopefully this will help deter little ones on the weekend.

When I get them up I'll take some pics and get this blog started!  Thanks for stopping by and sharing in my classroom progress.

Stay Sharp!
